The Anchor River State Recreation Area contains 75 individual camping sites close to the Anchor River and Cook Inlet. The Anchor River supports runs of king, silver, and pink salmon, as well as Dolly Varden and steelhead. The Cook Inlet support halibut and other salt water fish.

Across Cook Inlet from Anchor Point three of seven volcanoes bordering the inlet can be seen. To the south, Mount Augustine, then Mount Iliamna, and Mount Redoubt to the north.

The wildlife and scenery of the Anchor River State Recreation Area make it a popular stopping point for many campers.

Facilities: There are 116 individual campsites inside the Anchor River State Recreation Area. Restrooms, drinking water, and picnic areas are provided.

Reservations: No reservations are accepted.

Best Time To Visit: This area is open year-round, but staffed only from May-September.

Fees: An entry fee is charged.

Accessibility: Unknown

Directions: The park is located near Anchor Point at mile marker 157 along the Sterling Highway.
