Directions: Alagnak Wild River The park is located on Amaknak Island in the Aleutian Island Chain, 800 miles west of Anchorage, the nearest large urban center. It can be reached by air through commercial and charter flights from Anchorage.

Aleutian World War II National Historic Area Charter flights are available from Anchorage and Baird and Waring mountain ranges or access via power boat from any of the villages along the river.
Aniakchak National Monument & Preserve Access to the park is by plane or float plane from King Salmon, Alaska or by power boat from any one of the numerous villages along the Pacific Ocean coastline.
Bering Land Bridge National Preserve The Preserve is vast and access is limited. There are no roads that lead directly into it, and summer access is usually by bush planes and small boats. Winter access is mostly by small planes on skis, by snowmobiles, or by dog sleds.
Cape Krusenstern National Monument Commercial airlines provide service from Anchorage or Fairbanks to Nome or Kotzebue. There are scheduled flights to villages and chartered flights to specific park areas. Summer access may include motorized/non-motorized watercraft, aircraft, or by foot. Winter access may include snowmobiles, aircraft or by foot.
Denali National Park & Preserve Plane: Air travel to either Anchorage or Fairbanks and then car/shuttle/train to Denali. Anchorage is 240 miles to the south and Fairbanks is 125 miles to the north of the park.
Car: Denali Park's headquarters is located along Alaska Route 3, the George Parks Highway, approximately 240 miles north of Anchorage, AK, 125 miles south of Fairbanks, AK, and 12 miles south of Healy, AK. Denali Park's mountaineering headquarters is located in Talkeetna, AK, approximately 100 miles north of Anchorage, AK.
Public Transportation: Denali is accessible by car or via the Alaska Railroad from either Anchorage or Fairbanks. In summer a variety of private bus and van services and the railroad operate daily from Anchorage and Fairbanks.
Gates of the Arctic National Park & Preserve Plane: Scheduled air taxis from Fairbanks serve Anaktuvuk Pass, Bettles, and Coldfoot. Charter flights may also be arranged. Bush charters are available from Bettles and Coldfoot into the park and preserve boundaries. Travelers to Anaktuvuk Pass can hike into the park and preserve boundaries, but anticipate covering no more than one mile per hour.
Car: There are no roads in the park, although the Dalton Highway comes within about 5 miles of the park's eastern boundary. Other than hiking in from the Dalton Highway (across one or two rivers then over the mountain passes, normally at a maximum rate of one mile per hour) access is generally by air.
Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve Plane: Alaska Airlines provides daily jet service from Seattle via Juneau to Gustavus during the summer visitor season. The Gustavus airport is 10 miles by road from park headquarters at Bartlett Cove. Several air taxi companies provide daily small-plane flights year-round from Juneau to Gustavus as well. For those wishing to visit Glacier Bay National Preserve at Dry Bay, air transportation can be arranged from Yakutat, which has daily jet service from Seattle and Anchorage.
Car: There are no roads to Glacier Bay and no Alaska Marine Highway ferry service. The only road in the park runs ten miles between Bartlett Cove and the neighboring community of Gustavus. There is a rental car business in Gustavus. Most Gustavus lodging establishments provide transportation to Bartlett Cove for their guests.
Public Transportation: A passenger ferry operates between Juneau and Gustavus/Bartlett Cove on a limited schedule.

Katmai National Park & Preserve Headquarters Katmai National Park & Preserve is located on the Alaska Peninsula, across from Kodiak Island. Park Headquarters is in King Salmon, about 290 air miles southwest of Anchorage. Several commercial airlines provide daily flights into King Salmon as there is no road access. Brooks Camp, along the Brooks River approximately 30 air miles from King Salmon, is a common destination for visitors to the Park. Brooks Camp can only be reached via small float plane or boat.
Kenai Fjords National Park Plane: Charter flights may be available.
Car: The park lies 130 road miles south of Anchorage on the Seward Highway. The park's visitor center is located in Seward's small boat harbor.
Bus: Bus service is available year round between Anchorage and Seward.
Public Transportation: The Alaska Marine Highway (ferry) System connects Seward with Homer and Seldovia via Kodiak, providing service to Valdez and Cordova. The Alaska Railroad serves Seward from Anchorage during the summer months.
Klondike Gold Rush Plane: Skagway, Alaska is located 80 miles by air north of Juneau.
Car: Skagway is reached by the South Klondike Highway and is 110 miles south of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
Public Transportation: Skagway is served by the Alaska Marine Highway System from Juneau and by public bus from Whitehorse

Lake Clark National Park and Preserve Plane: Access to the Lake Clark region is by small aircraft. Float planes may land on the many lakes throughout the area. Wheeled planes land on open beaches, gravel bars, or private airstrips in or near the park. A one to two-hour flight from Anchorage, Kenai or Homer will provide access to most points within the park and preserve.
Car: There is no highway access to the park and preserve.
Public Transportation: Scheduled commercial flights between Anchorage and Iliamna, 30 miles outside the boundary, provide another means of access.
Noatak National Preserve Plane: Access to the Park: to get to Kotzebue, fly with Alaska Airlines from Anchorage or Fairbanks. From Kotzebue to the Parklands, fly with various air taxi operators. There are scheduled flights to villages and chartered flights to specific park areas. Summer access may include motorized/non-motorized watercraft, aircraft, or by foot. Winter access may include snowmobiles, aircraft or by foot
Sitka National Historical Park Plane: Sitka is located on Baranof Island on Alaska's southeastern panhandle. Sitka can be reached only by air or sea. Commercial airlines fly directly from Seattle, Juneau and Anchorage. The Park is located at the south end of Lincoln Street, approximately one-fourth mile from downtown Sitka.
Public Transportation: Sitka is also a port of call for ferries on the Alaska Marine Highway System.
Western Arctic National Parklands Directions: Unknown
Wrangell-St. Elias Plane: The nearest major airport is located in Anchorage. It is 4 hour drive to park headquarters in Copper Center/Glennallen. Local air taxis and tours leave from the airstrips in Glennallen, McCarthy, and Chitina.
Car: There are only two gravel roads that actually enter the park. The Nabesna Road (42 miles long) begins at Slana and offers spectacular scenery and access to a seldom seen, wild corner of Alaska.
The McCarthy Road (60 miles long) begins at Chitina, follows an old railbed, and ends at the historic communities of McCarthy and Kennecott. This road provides access to great hiking, fishing, and camping.
Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve Plane: Scheduled air taxis from Fairbanks serve Eagle and Circle, located up river and down river of the preserve, respectively.
Car: Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve is primarily a wilderness. There is no road access. Two highways serve towns near the Preserve boundaries. The 161-mile Taylor Highway begins at Tetlin Junction on the Alaska Highway and ends at Eagle, 12 miles from the preserve. It is usually open from mid-April to mid-October and is suitable for cars. The Steese Highway is open year round. It begins in Fairbanks and travels 162 miles to Circle, 14 miles from the preserve. In good weather it takes about five hours to drive either of these gravel roads. Check locally about road conditions before setting out.
